The Pit Walks: A huge interest of mine, the TT pit area, located behind the grandstand is fully accessible to spectators and offers the opportunity to meet all the riders, view their race machinery, purchase memorabilia, 'eat' and just soak up the atmosphere that is so unique to the TT. One only needs to compare the restrictions imposed at MotoGP and to a lesser extent WSBK events to realise how fortunate TT spectators are to have an 'open pits policy'. I make no apologies about starting my pit walks coverage with the elusive Guy Martin! #8: GUY MARTIN / WILSON CRAIG RACING: I have to admit I watched with fascination the attempts by various media groups to interview Guy Martin, Guy is such a character, I have never known of any other motor racing competitor of any persuasion remotely like him. I did manage a couple of images here and there, Guy had a huge off in the Senior TT which destroyed his TT2010 campaign. STOP PRESS: Guy is to host 'his own' TV Show in early 2011, what next!
#2: JOHN McGUINNESS / HM PLANT: I continue to be impressed by the quantity of staff and apparent quality workmanship in the HM Plant garage but the reliability of the machinery this year was appalling.
#4: IAN HUTCHINSON / PADGETT'S RACING: I doubt anyone predicted what the combination of Ian Hutchinson, Padgett's Racing and Honda would achieve at this years TT. A milestone of five wins in one TT week, staggering. It has to be said the pit garage, as compared to more fancied teams, appeared somewhat austere.
#6: CAM DONALD / RELENTLESS SUZUKI BY TAS RACING: I anticipated a huge investment by Suzuki in this team for 2010 and with the arrival of Loris Capirossi it was all happening in the Pit Garage. Unfortunately it was not happening on the TT course, more unreliability issues plagued the Suzuki camp, the first hint of trouble was when Cam exited the pit lane for the first practice session, he could not defeat the pit limiter, it just seemed to get worse from there. I was delighted to meet Cam Donald, the TAS team owner Hector Neill and Suzuki's MotoGP rider Loris Capirossi. Loris was so approachable and obliging to fans outside the Relentless Garage, top marks.
#9/14: MICHAEL DUNLOP / STREET SWEEP / ROBINSON CONCRETE: In a word, 'determination', Michael is going to record many wins at the TT, preparation and the will to win, great stuff.
#68: JENNY TINMOUTH, #78: MARIA COSTELLO MBE, STEVE PARISH AND THE TT MASCOT: Jenny and Maria were very approachable, Steve was very busy doing interviews, commentating etc.
#5: KLAUS KLAFFENBOCK / MANX GAS/ PADGETTS: Total domination of both Sidecar races reinforced the Padgett's name even further this year.
