PORSCHE - 60th ANNIVERSARY IN
AUSTRALIA: Porsche
Australia celebrated their sixtieth year in Australia in March 2011.
Amazingly Australia was Porsche's first right hand drive market
and one of their first export territories
in 1951.
The first two
cars were imported by Norman Hamilton in 1951, subsequent years have
witnessed a steady growth in sales, Porsche Cars Australia is now a wholly
owned subsidiary of Porsche AG with current Australian sales exceeding 1,300
vehicles per annum.

PORSCHE 356A: An
excellent example of the 356A, designed and developed by Dr Ferdinand Porsche's
son. The first true Porsche Coupe, the 356 developed by
Ferry Porsche in 1948 was powered by the readily available four cylinder
Volkswagen Beetle engine but the body was very different, a tubular space
frame chassis with an aluminium body. Ferry had visions of a car that would
handle, brake and hold the road well and the 356 due to it's light weight
offered many of these features.
