BROOKLANDS CARS:
In addition to the Napier Lion,
Merlin and Packard powered marvels, Brooklands has a permanent display of many
race and land speed record cars. During annual events like the Double 12 there
is an enormous gathering of Veteran, Vintage, Concours d'Elegance, Club and
Special Anniversary cars on display. I photographed the following cars at the
Double 12 of 2011.
1897: DAIMLER GRAFTON TOURER:
The oldest 'plated' car at the Brooklands Double 12 of 2011.
1898: HENRIOD DUC: The
Henriod Duc 'plated 1898', was built in Switzerland and the coachwork is french. The engine is
an air cooled two cylinder horizontally opposed boxer engine driving through a three speed and reverse gearbox, in
it's original form the engine was capable of running on either alcohol or
petrol.
