SAMMY MILLER MUSEUM - GILERA MOTORCYCLES:
The Gilera Company was founded by Giuseppe Gilera in 1909.
Giuseppe developed many famous motorcycles with the assistance of notable
people, including Carlo Gianini, Piero Remor and Peiro Taruffi. Arguably the
most famous Gilera would be the Grand Prix 500/4 Racing Machines of the 1950's.
The Gilera Factory was taken over by the Piaggo Group in the 1970's.
1957: GILERA 125 EXTRA SPORT:
Described as a high quality lightweight machine of the 1950's,
this motorcycle is powered by a 124cc single cylinder engine.
1957: GILERA 500:
This motorcycle was raced by Geoff Duke OBE, it is powered by a
500cc in-line four cylinder 500cc DOHC engine driving through a five speed
gearbox.
