GERMAN RAILWAYS: I wanted to experience and record details of German (DB and
DR) Railways for some forty years, unfortunately to date I have only had time
available for a quick trip in an ICE Train and a visit to a small Rail
Station/Museum in Germany.
ICE TRAIN AND 146 CLASS: Spectacular looking, albeit stymied by speed restrictions and track standards
during my brief trip from Stuttgart to Vienna, nonetheless it was great to try
out the pride of Deutsche Bahn (DB). Surprisingly I did find the ride less than
smooth and I imagined a somewhat more linear speed control rather than the
noticeably 'stepped' control method. A 146 Class happened to rumble passed
whilst waiting for the ICE!
