THE NSWGR MUSEUM - PASSENGER ROLLING STOCK EXHIBITS: My coverage of the NSWGR Rail Museum Passenger Rolling Stock.
1869: THE W880 CLASS - EIGHT WHEELER: First Class Seating for the Blue Mountains, New South Wales. Originally built by the Midland Carriage Company, Birmingham, England, this carriage was delivered to the 'Railways and Tramways of NSW' in 1869. The unique feature of the carriage is the 'eight wheel radial car design', considered appropriate for the sharp turns on the Blue Mountains line.
1902: THE CBC1090 CLASS - PULLMAN SITTING CAR: Designed by the New South Wales Government Railways, the CBC1090 was built by Eveleigh Railway Carriage and Wagon Workshops, Redfern, NSW. Riding on three axle bogies, the Car is timber framed with first and second class sections, with toilets and washrooms at both ends.
1938: THE KAM508 CLASS - DELUXE SLEEPER: Evolving from the TAM Cars of 1913 and the design features of the Australian Governor General's Car of 1901, the New South Wales Railways, Eveleigh Workshops fitted out selected TAM Car Sleepers as KAM Deluxe Sleepers incorporating only five compartments with spacious sitting saloons at each end.
