HONDA HALL CARS: Continued... EV, HYBRID AND FUEL CELL CARS: The display of alternated fuel cars at the Museum.
1997: EV PLUS: The first generation Electric car from Honda. Powered by brushless DC motor and a nickel-metal hydride battery stack, the EV Plus on full charge had a range of 210km. The motor, rated at 49kW throughout a rev range of 1,700~8,750rpm, could propel the car to a maximum speed of 130kmh.
1999: INSIGHT: The first generation Hybrid - Low Emissions car from Honda. Powered by both a petrol and electric (hybrid) drive. Fuel economy testing achieved 35km/litre, exceptional for the era. The lean-burn petrol engine and ultra-thin DC motor were housed in a light weight aluminium body. The petrol engine was a 995cc OHC three cylinder type producing 70PS @ 5,700rpm.
2002: FCX HYDROGEN FUEL CELL 'ZEV' CAR: The first generation Hydrogen Fuel Cell - Zero Emissions car from Honda. Powered by an AC synchronous motor (permanent-magnetic) fuel cell stack PEFC (polymer electrolyte fuel cell), ultra capacitor (capacitance 8.0F). The fuel cell was capable of producing 78kW and the car had a maximum speed of 150kmh. The ZEV technology developed in this car led to the development of the FCX Clarity.
