Speed on Tweed 2010

SPEED ON TWEED - September 2010: The event, sponsored by 'Southcoast Automotive' specifically highlighted 'Australian Specials Racing Cars', built in Australia after World War 2, when British and European sourced race cars were in short supply. There certainly was one other highlight, the attendance of Sir Jack Brabham AO, OBE.

POPPING WHEELIES: The 'Bus Stop' section of the Speed on Tweed race track offers some unique action, taken hard a lot of cars get their front wheels airborne just prior to tackling 'Jesus Corner'!

SIR JACK BRABHAM AO, OBE: I was amazed to hear Australia's greatest Formula 1 Driver would be attending this year and sure enough Sir Jack set about signing autographs for many hours, great stuff. I was delighted to meet Sir Jack for the first time at Speed on Tweed, a very brief overview of Sir Jack's achievements in motor sport follows...

	Formula 1 World Driver's Champion in 1959, 1960 and 1966 and Formula 1 World Constructor's Champion in 1966 and 1967
	Won a total of fourteen Grand Prix and achieved thirteen Formula 1 Pole Positions
	Awarded Australian of the Year in 1966 and the Order of the British Empire in 1967
	Knighted for his services to motor sport in 1979
	The only Formula 1 driver to win the a Formula 1 World Driver's Championship in a car of his own design and construction
