Vintage Japanese Motorcycle Club - October 2009: The 26th Anniversary VJMC Rally to be held at the Healesville Amateur Racing Club Racecourse was originally scheduled for early April 2009 following the Phillip Island WSBK races, however this sadly coincided with catastrophic bush fires in the Healesville area of Victoria preventing the Rally from proceeding. The VJMC are to be congratulated for having rescheduled the event to follow the October Phillip Island MotoGP races, but more importantly to bring both the event and participants purchasing power to the devastated areas to help boost the local economy. In fact a ride on Saturday proceeded through the beautiful rain forests, now recovering, to the Marysville area. Marysville was one of the towns totally devastated by firestorms. Suzuki Australia Pty Ltd were the naming rights sponsor.

Some marvellous exhibits were on show, the highlight for me was the immaculate Honda NR750 'Oval Piston' motorcycle and there just seemed to be Turbo's everywhere, Honda CX500T's, CX650T, Yamaha Seca Turbo 650, Suzuki XN85, Kawasaki 1000T/C and a post production Turbo Honda CBX1000A!  The general consensus was that the motorcycles displayed at Healesville were 'right', so rideable if you will. Certainly not like the current 'pocket rockets' that so many people have to squeeze themselves onto today, never mind the hopeless pillion facilities on offer.

Hopefully the following images will convey to you the extent of quality machinery on display, some 300 exhibits in total....

THE HONDA NR750 'OVAL PISTON': Staggering, this motorcycle or more specifically the engine internals has placed Honda's Engine Designers at a level beyond all others, whilst the NR500 GP Machinery never achieved success, the 750cc road version is truly ageless both in shape and that engine certainly offers the lucky owner unique bragging rights.

.

NR750, JUST SUPERB

TURBOS & A KATANA!!: The Turbos were in very good order but a certain Suzuki Katana, absolutely immaculate..

.

YAMAHA SECA TURBO

CBX FILES:  EGLI FRAMED BEAST, A FORGOTTEN ERA RACER AND A CBX1000A!!: Very nice thankyou, I adore the CBX and this lot did nothing to undermine my admiration.....

.

ABOUT AS RADICAL AS IT GOT AT HEALESVILLE.

KAWASAKI Z1, Z1R & RICKMAN FRAMED Z1!!: A beautiful Z1 'Jaffa' a Z1R and an immaculate Rickman Framed Z1, Kawasaki's big in line fours were well represented....

.

KAWASAKI, THEY JUST GOT THIS BIKE SO RIGHT.

SUZUKI ROTARY & A STINGER!!: The Rotary, never a sales success for Suzuki but nevertheless a unique looking and sounding machine, the T125 Stinger was another unique looking machine....

.

SIMPLE ROTARY CHAMBER DESIGN, WEIGHED DOWN BY SO MANY ANCILLARIES.

YAMAHA XS650 TWINS!!: A few beautiful examples of Yamaha's answer to the Triumph and BSA Twins....

.

YAMAHA XS650 TWIN, JUST GREAT.
