SPACE RESEARCH:
I consider myself extremely fortunate to have lived through the
amazing early era of Space Research, Sputnik, Yuri Gagarin's first Space Flight,
Mercury, Gemini, Apollo and the Space Shuttle eras, all astounding achievements.
I am visiting Space Centres and Museum Exhibits commemorating Space Research.
HOUSTON SPACE
CENTRE:
My first
opportunity to visit a NASA Space Centre, the Houston Space Centre included
some good, albeit limited exhibits. I was surprised at the inclusion of so
many Fun Park type Exhibits in the Main Foyer, conversely the visitor was
required to 'seek out' the Moon Mission Exhibits tucked away in a corner,
very disappointing. A highlight was the adjacent Johnson Space Centre which
included a massive Saturn 5 Exhibit.

the Houston Space Centre. |

NASA:
NASA, where does one begin, so much has
been achieved by some very brave individuals. The history of NASA is
somewhat chequered but the overall accomplishments, just staggering.
The 'clickable' image (web pic) is a
group shot of the original NASA 'Seven', very special men trained to become
Astronauts, they ultimately achieved success in the Mercury, Gemini, Apollo
and Shuttle programs, John Glenn (third from left) went on to become a US
Senator. |
