THE GALVESTON RAIL MUSEUM, GALVESTON, TEXAS: The Home of the Santa Fe 'Warbonnets', the Museum includes a wide variety of Steam and Diesel Locomotives, Passenger and Freight cars. The 'Ghosts of Travellers Past, circa 1932' was a somewhat scary Exhibition during my visit.
STEAM LOCOMOTIVE EXHIBITS: 1892: SOUTHERN PACIFIC STEAM LOCOMOTIVE #314: Manufactured by the Cooke Locomotive Works (ALCO), Patterson, New Jersey, #314 is the oldest surviving ten wheeled locomotive in Texas with a wheel configuration of 4-6-0. The locomotive was originally manufactured for the Houston and Texas Central (Southern Pacific) Lines and served the Texas and Louisiana routes.
1922: SOUTHERN PACIFIC STEAM LOCOMOTIVE #555: Manufactured by the American Locomotive Company, #555 had a wheel configuration of 2-8-0. The locomotive served mainly in Arizona hauling copper ore and mine supplies for the Magma Arizona Railroad.
