NOTTINGHAM: The name immediately conjures up thoughts of Robin, Marian and the Band of Outlaws. The Nottingham of today is a thriving modern city, however it does not take too long to discover the indelible links to all things Robin Hood. There is for example Nottingham Castle, statues of Robin, appropriate street names and even breakfast selections in the local cafes offering clues to the daring exploits of 'Robin of the Hood'. Sadly I noted during my visit in 2009 that the 'Tales of Robin Hood' shop and the 'Experience Display' had closed. Hopefully something similar will open in the future. There is a selection of Robin Hood memorabilia located in a Gift Shop at the entry to the Nottingham Castle grounds.
CRESWELL CRAGS: In the 'Footsteps of Robin Hood', Creswell Crags is located on the western side of Sherwood Forest and it is believed the proliferation of caves were used by Robin Hood and his Merry Men to hide from the Sheriff of Nottingham and as a refuge from bad weather.
