LAVERTON TT - 1976: The 1976 Laverton TT, actually it was the Laverton RAAF Base in Victoria, converted for the weekend with the limited use of straw bales, bunting, star pickets! and signage. Heh presto one International Raceway, the 'track' certainly offered some good run off areas. I recall the Organisers had financial troubles and the Carrier that brought a lot of the International Riders Motorcycles to Australia 'withheld' the machines for some time till suitable payment/arrangements were made. The machines held included Ago's MV, ouch. THE SENIOR 500cc EVENT: Everybody expected Ago to race away with the event, he did at the beginning, but Kenny Blake had other ideas and took the then brand new 'unsorted' Suzuki GP500 Racer to the win.
THE UNLIMITED 750cc EVENT: With respect to all the Grand Prix Stars in attendance, I believe this was the race of the day. Gregg Hansford and Pat Hennen were absolutely locked together for many laps.
THE JUNIOR 250cc EVENT: Walter Villa took the win for 'Harley Davidson!
THE LIGHTWEIGHT 125cc MACHINERY: Bianchi and Pileri were untouchable.
