BIGGIN HILL, 2009:
The Biggin Hill International Air Fair, wow, I attended both days of the 2009
Fair, with ground displays, aerial displays and souvenirs, absolutely nothing
disappointed. A tremendous exhibition.
TEAM GUINOT: The
world's only formation flying, wing walking team. The aircraft are Boeing
Stearman Biplanes, flying at nominally 150 miles per hour and an altitude of 500
feet , the ladies experience up to 4G during some of the aerobatics and their
acrobatics.
RED BULL MATADORS:
The world famous Matadors Aerobatic Team have been performing at Biggin Hill
since 2004. The aircraft are Russian built Su-26's and the pilots are Paul
Bonhomme and Steve Jones.
THE GREAT WAR DISPLAY TEAM: Commemorating the aircraft that flew in the First World War, initially
aircraft entered the 'great war' in an observer (air reconnaissance) role, armed
forces of the day not quite grasping the wide ranging roles of aircraft.
By the cessation of hostilities in 1918 aircraft were seen as a a vital
adjunct to ground forces with air attack, ground attack, surveillance and
transport being key roles.
